a Hunter Education Course

A Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Hunter Education course will be offered in conjunction with the Sawyer County Outdoor Projects & Education (SCOPE) organization. This course will cover hunter education, understanding firearms, proper care and storage of firearms, marksmanship fundamentals, responsibilities of hunters, field care, handling outdoor emergencies, and more.
Anyone born on or after January 1, 1973 must have completed a hunter education course to purchase any hunting license.  Persons successfully completing this course will receive a Wisconsin Hunter Education Graduate Certificate. 

 There is no age limit to enroll in the course.  However, the curriculum is geared toward the ability level of a 12 year old.  The class will be held on August 7, 9, 11 and 14.  Classes on August 7, 9 and 14 will be at the Hayward Middle School.  Registration paperwork will begin at 5:30 pm on August 7, with the class starting at 6:00 pm and ending at 8:30 pm.  Class on Saturday, August 11 will be held at the Hayward Rod & Gun Club from 8:00 am–2:30 pm.  The Rod & Gun Club is located approximately 3 miles east of Hayward on County Highway B

Participants must attend all class sessions, pass a written test and hands-on test to successfully complete the course.  Cost is $10.00 which includes all materials & bonus items!  Upon completion, students will receive a hunting vest complements of SCOPE, a distinctive embroidered emblem and a hunter education certificate.
